What's New in Syncle
This article covers two recent updates to how Syncle handles catalog mapping: smarter automatic mapping through richer template context, and a new output preview that replaces the mapping screen.
Smarter Automatic Mapping
Syncle now reads more from your retailer templates when setting up automatic mappings.
What's changed:
Retailer Excel templates often contain more than just a column name. Many use multi-row headers that include a description of what the field expects, an example value, whether the field is mandatory or optional, and data type constraints. Previously, Syncle only read the top-level header name.
Syncle now parses the full header structure and uses this additional context when auto-mapping your catalog fields. This means the initial mappings are more accurate and the generated transformation guidelines are better suited to what the retailer actually expects. The result is less manual correction work before your first export.
New Output Preview
The mapping screen has been replaced with an output preview.
What's changed:
When you open a recipient catalog, you now see your own products rendered in the retailer's template format, with real data filled in, exactly as the exported Excel will look. This replaces the previous interface, which showed an abstract list of field-to-field connections.
How it works:
To adjust a mapping or transformation guideline, click directly on any column in the preview. A panel opens where you can change the source field, edit the transformation guideline, or view sample source values. Once you save a change, the system reruns the transformation for a sample set of products and updates the preview. The refresh target is under one minute, so you can iterate quickly without running a full export.
Template upload has also been simplified. You no longer need to confirm at multiple steps before reaching the preview. Upload your template once, wait for processing to complete, and you will land directly in the output preview.
What the preview does and does not show:
The preview renders your data in the retailer's column structure, including dropdown list values. It does not currently render Excel formulas, embedded images, or shapes such as logos or arrows. If a cell in the preview is empty, the current release does not yet indicate whether the cause is a missing mapping, a failed transformation, or missing source data. This will be addressed in a future update.
